I think at some point, and maybe it was offhand, Gabe mentioned “the men and women of the Thornwatch.”

Can you imagine how freaking terrifying a Daughter of the Eyrewood who forwent her calling and becoming and ran off to join the Thornwatch would be? The magical nature of their world suggests to me that the magic of their becoming, mixing with their metaphorical oathbreaking (to their calling to the Eyrewood) would warp their form.
